Fashion and Gender
GENDER issue 3/18
The underlying drive of fashion is that of modern capitalist societies: It consists in the ceaseless production, consumption, and rapid elimination of anything superfluous, be it things, life styles, or even human beings. Involved in this are the fashion system (as the sum of all institutions that produce and distribute fashion) as well as the consumers. This special issue puts a focus on the complex contexts of fashion and gender from different disciplinary perspectives.
